•
Store gasoline in a cool location out of the reach of children.
Never store gasoline near heat or an open flame.
•
Provide a fire extinguisher nearby when working with gasoline.
Be sure extinguisher is in operating condition – check the
pressure gauge or indicator. Be familiar with its proper
use. Consult local fire department for the correct type of
extinguisher for your application. Extinguishers rated ABC by
the National Fire Protection Association are approximate for
most applications.
•
Provide positive shut-off valves on all permanent fuel supplies.
Fuel lines must be of steel piping, adequately secured and free
from leaks.
•
Provide adequate ventilation and clean up any spills when
handling or pumping flammable liquids.
•
POSITIVELY NO SMOKING!
5.
Do not use torches or apply fire or flame to this pump for any reason.
6. Secure the discharge line before starting the pump. An unsecured
discharge line will slip possibly causing personal injury and/or property
damage.
7.
Do not overtighten non-metallic threaded fittings. One full turn past
hand tight is usually enough to prevent leakage. Teflon® sealant tape is
provided and should be used on all threaded joints, including the spout.
8. Check hoses for weak or worn condition before each use, making certain
that all connections are secure.
9. Periodically inspect pump and system components. Perform routine
maintenance as required.
10. Drain all liquids from the system before servicing.
Any pump used to transfer flammable liquids must be stored in a well
ventilated area after use.
PERSONAL SAFETY
1. Wear safety glasses at all times when working with pump.
2. Wear a face shield, proper apparel and suitable respiratory equipment
when pumping hazardous chemicals.
3. Keep work area clean, uncluttered and properly lighted. Replace all
unused tools and equipment.
4. Keep visitors at a safe distance from the work area.
5. Make workshop child-proof with padlocks, master switches and by
removing starter keys.
Failure to follow all General Safety Information can result in a fatality,
personal injury and/or property damage!
Before using, be sure gear case is filled with oil (see MAINTENANCE
section).
ASSEMBLY AND INSTALLATION
1. Screw bung adapter (Ref. No. 20) into drum with threaded end down.
2.
Screw spout (Ref. No. 6) into pump housing (Ref. No. 3). Use Teflon®
sealant tape provided.
3.
Screw filter body (Ref. No. 13) into inlet of pump housing. Use Teflon®
sealant tape provided.
4.
Screw suction tube into filter body (Ref. No. 14). Use Teflon® sealant tape
provided.
5. Insert pump assembly into drum through bung adapter and tighten
butterfly screw (Ref. No. 21) by hand. DO NOT use wrench or tool to
tighten butterfly screw.
OPERATION
1. Rotate handle (Ref. No. 5) clockwise several times.
Not for water or other liquids that may cause corrosion.
MAINTENANCE
1. Periodically check oil level, ISO viscosity grade 10 spindle oil or an
equivalent lubricant of equal or lower viscosity should be added through
the oil plug (Ref. No. 9) up to the bottom of the fill hole.
2. Periodically clean the suction strainer (Ref. No. 16) with kerosene or
similar solution.
3. In some applications, condensation or water in the pumped liquid will
cause accumulation of corrosion, which will cause the pump to stick.
Pouring penetrating oil into the pipe opening and cranking several times
usually will free the pump.
