1.4 Mobile Patient Bed Installation and Setup
The Mobile Patient Bed is designed for installation and use inside a sterile operating room or in a
non-sterile pre-op area within an ambulatory surgery center (ASC) or a hospital. Initial
installation and testing will be performed by
OPTIMEDICA
-certified personnel.
During normal use, the Mobile Patient Bed operates on electrical power supplied by an on-board
battery located in the base. The bed is equipped with a detachable AC power cord that can be
inserted into a standard AC wall outlet to recharge the battery. The AC wall outlet must be
correctly grounded and rated for the electrical load of the Mobile Patient Bed.
The bed can be temporarily connected to an AC wall outlet at the
CATALYS®
System installation
site if the battery becomes low on charge during a laser procedure. The bed can also be
permanently connected to an AC wall outlet if the bed is permanently positioned next to the
CATALYS®
System.
WARNINGS
To avoid the risk of electric shock, this equipment must only be connected to a supply mains with
protective earth.
Operate the Mobile Patient Bed using the on‐board battery if the integrity of the protective earth
conductor is in doubt.
The detachable AC power cord is the main disconnect of the equipment from mains AC power.
The detachable AC power cord must be disconnected from the Mobile Patient Bed to ensure that
the bed is completely isolated from mains AC power.
Do not replace the AC power cord. The Mobile Patient Bed is approved for use with the AC power
cord supplied with the bed. If a replacement AC power cord is required, contact
OPTIMEDICA
Service to obtain the correct replacement part for your bed.
Properly route and secure the AC power cord to ensure that it does not become entangled,
pinched, and/or severed during operation of the Mobile Patient Bed. If the cord must cross a
floor where there is traffic, use of a floor cord/cable cover is recommended to prevent a tripping
hazard.
Do not use an extension cord.
