4.3 Postoperative Instructions
When laser treatment is complete, the system automatically proceeds to the Undocking Screen.
The Undocking Screen guides you through the process of releasing the patient, disconnecting
the Mobile Patient Bed (if used), and removing the suction ring and disposable lens from the
system.
Releasing the Patient
When the initial Undocking Screen displays, the Vacuum panel is open. As instructed in the
panel, release the patient vacuum and lower the Mobile Patient Bed or patient chair, as follows:
1. Release patient vacuum by pressing the (patient vacuum)
O
(off) button on the
docking keypad (located on the system front panel directly above the patient) or by
pressing and holding the patient vacuum
O
(off) footswitch for one second. The one-
second requirement is to prevent accidental vacuum release if the footswitch is
accidentally bumped.

NOTE
Figure 4.45 shows the vacuum footswitch for systems manufactured after May 2013. For
a description of the vacuum footswitch for systems manufactured prior to May 2013, see
Chair Enable Feature on page 291 .
2. Since the buffered saline solution within the suction ring will be free to seep out, be
ready to capture it with a gauze or clean tissue once the suction ring separates from the
eye.

3. Use the joystick control to lower the bed/chair.
