WARNING
Minimum clearances between the water heater and
combustible construction are 0” at the sides and rear, 6”
at the front, and 6” from the vent pipe. Clearance from

movement in a room or other enclosed space, Flammable

liquids are being used or stored.

damage. For these reasons the water heater must not be
installed in an area where all gas burning appliances in the
vicinity must be shut off, including their pilot lights, to avoid
vapor ignition. Open doors and windows for ventilation.

Do not locate the water heater, near an air moving device.

pilot air intake screen in front of burner to prevent it from
becoming blocked and shutting down the water heater. This
can be done with a cloth, a small brush, or a vacuum nozzle. If a
vacuum is used be sure not to vacuum the burner venturi. This
could pull dirt into the burner from inside the combustion
chamber. A rumbling noise on ignition of main burner also
warns of screen blockage.
A water heater cannot operate properly without the correct

and state codes, the “National Fuel Gas Code”,ANSI Z223.1
(NFPA 54)- latest edition to properly install the system.
