AMI designs and develops key high speed system
components, preserving signal integrity with in-
creasing data rates, bus lengths and loading. AMI’s
experienced design staff understands the latest
industry innovations and uses the tools and tech-
niques needed to design high reliability systems.
SCSI’s evolution from a low speed narrow inter-
connect to a high speed wide bus is a challenge to
equipment vendors. Designing high speed buses
that travel over several printed circuit boards and
cables requires knowledge beyond traditional
artwork layout. AMI developed signal routing and
layer usage strategies that optimize signal integrity
with minimal manufacturability sacrifice.
With system complexity on the increase, AMI
ensures the highest level of interoperability when
more of the system components are designed and
tested by AMI.
AMI designs are carefully placed and routed for the
best signal flow. Architecting SCSI systems that operate
flawlessly with the latest Ultra160 and Ultra320 specifi-
cations requires minimizing stubs, accurate spacing of
loads and connectors, bus loading limitations and signal
propagation.
Testing
AMI’s experience and expertise in design verification
ensures that signal integrity will not cause any issues in
complex systems. AMI uses sophisticated test equipment
to qualify designs. Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR)
verifies impedance within specifications and high speed
data digital storage oscilloscopes verify skew budgets
and signal quality.
Enclosure Management
AMI motherboards and MegaRAC remote access com-
panions support IPMI. The backplane combines the SAF-
TE of the controller with the IPMI of a system to achieve
the highest level of enclosure management. AMI can also
make custom modifications for customers.
