1.6 Important Notice
The intended use of the AMEC CAMINO-101 AIS is to enhance the safety of vessels at sea.
However, a few points must be noted as below,
Any AIS cannot guarantee in monitoring and receiving signals from all vessels in the
surroundings unless those vessels equip with AIS device.
It is important to note that the AIS is designed for the purpose of anti-collision and is serves
as a compliment to navigation. It is not navigational equipment and does not replace any
navigational system installed on board.
Although AIS is operated automatically by itself, the owner or the crew on the vessel should
still maintain a proper lookout for the surroundings. While the AIS is capable of setting alarm
of Distance to Closest Point of Approach (hereinafter called “CPA”) and Time to the Closest
Point of Approach (hereinafter called “TCPA”), vessel owner or the crew should be aware of
the fact that there are vessels that are not equipped with AIS, and this function will not apply
on these vessels.
