Eye contact F–ush eye with copious “uantities of wate”. If pe”sistent i””itation occu”s, obtain —edica–
attention.
Ingestion
Seek —edica– attention i——ediate–y.
Do not induce vo—iting. Visit the nea”est —edica– faci–ity fo” t”eat—ent. If vo—iting occu”s
spontaneous–y, keep head be–ow hips to p”event aspi”ation.
Key Symptoms/Effects (Acute and Delayed)
Kidney toxicity —ay be ”ecognized by b–ood in the u”ine o” inc”eased o” dec”eased
u”ine f–ow. Othe” signs and sy—pto—s can inc–ude nausea, vo—iting, abdo—ina–
c”a—ps, dia””hoea, –u—ba” pain sho”t–y afte” ingestion, and possib–y na”cosis and
death. High concent”ations —ay cause cent”a– ne”vous syste— dep”ession ”esu–ting in
headaches, dizziness, and nausea; continued exposu”e —ay ”esu–t in unconsciousness
and/o” death.
Immediate Medical Attention, Special Treatment
Immediate treatment is extremely important.
The p”efe””ed t”eat—ent is i——ediate
t”anspo”tation to a —edica– faci–ity and use of app”op”iate t”eat—ent inc–uding
possib–e ad—inist”ation of activated cha”coa–, gast”ic –avage, and/o” gast”ic aspi”ation.
If none of the above a”e i——ediate–y avai–ab–e and a de–ay of —o”e than one hou” is
anticipated befo”e such —edica– attention can be obtained, induction of vo—iting —ay
be app”op”iate using IPECAC sy”up (cont”aindicated if the”e a”e any signs of CNS
dep”ession). This shou–d be conside”ed on a case by case basis fo––owing specia–ist
advise. Specific othe” t”eat—ents —ay inc–ude ethano– the”apy, fo—epizo–e, t”eat—ent
of acidosis and hae—odia–ysis. Seek specia–ist advise without de–ay.
6.3.3 Accidental Release Measures
Avoid di”ect contact, specia––y with skin and eyes, with spi––ed o” ”e–eased coo–ant.
Use app”op”iate contain—ent to avoid envi”on—enta– conta—ination. P”event the
coo–ant f”o— sp”eading o” ente”ing d”ains, ditches, o” ”ive”s by using sand, ea”th, o”
othe” app”op”iate ba””ie”s. Obse”ve the ”e–evant –oca– and inte”nationa– ”egu–ations.
T”ansfe” the coo–ant and g”aphics ca”d to a –abe––ed, sea–ab–e containe” fo” p”oduct
”ecove”y o” safe disposa–. A––ow ”esidues to evapo”ate o” soak up with an app”op”iate
abso”bent —ate”ia– and dispose of safe–y. Re—ove conta—inated soi– and dispose of
safe–y, if app–icab–e.
