3. Monitoring instrument
Readings on the Ambu Airway Man monitoring instrument can be viewed from
two sides. By activating a cover plate on the side facing the trainee, instrument
readings can be concealed from trainees undergoing a CPR test, while allowing
the training instructor to monitor the effectiveness of the CPR on the opposite
side.
The monitoring instrument is divided into two halves. The left-hand side registers
ventilation, including inspiration volume (1.1), and provides indication of stomach
inflation (1.2). The right-hand side of the instrument registers chest compression,
including depth of compression in millimeters (1.3), and provides indication of
incorrect hand positioning (1.4).
The gauges for insufflated volume and depth of compression are designed to dis-
play green when the correct volume and chest compression have been reached,
and red when the measurement recorded is outside the correct range.
All Ambu training manikins and training products comply with the ILCOR
“Guidelines 2005”. Member organizations of ILCOR are AHA, ARC, ERC, HSFC,
CLAR, NZRC and RCSA.
It is possible to order instrument plates with old recommendations. (AHA and ERC
2000 Guidelines).
The instrument registers inflation in the stomach (1.2) and incorrect hand position-
ing (1.4) by changing from black to red color display.
