Memory function
This battery charger has a memory function. The next time the battery charger is connected, it will return to the
mode that was used the last time the battery charger was connected.
Charging batteries in a vehicle
1.
Position the AC and DC cords such that damage by the hood, the door, or by moving engine parts is
minimized.
2.
Stay clear of fan blades, belts, pulleys, and other parts that can cause a personal injury.
3.
Check the polarity of battery posts. The POSITIVE (POS, P, +) battery post usually has a larger diameter than
the NEGATIVE (NEG, N,-) battery post.
4.
Determine which battery post is grounded (connected) to the chassis. If the negative post is grounded to
chassis (as in most vehicles), connect the POSITIVE (RED) clip from the battery charger to the POSITIVE(P0S, P,
+) post of battery. Connect the NEGATIVE (BLACK) clip to the vehicle chassis or the engine block, away from
battery. Do not connect the clip to the carburetor, fuel lines, or sheet-metal body parts.
If and only if positive post is grounded to the chassis, connect the NEGATIVE (BLACK) clip from battery charger
to the NEGATIVE (NEG, N, -) post of battery. Connect the POSITIVE (RED) clip to the vehicle chassis or the
engine block, away from battery. Do not connect the clip to the carburetor, fuel lines, or sheet-metal body
parts.
5.
When disconnecting the battery charger, disconnect the AC cord first, remove the clip from vehicle chassis,
and then remove the clip from battery terminal.
6.
Do not charge the battery while the engine is operating.
