EXPANSION MODULES INSTALLATION
Input + 8 OC module
The Input + 8 OC module is connected to the RS-485 bus. It also gets its power supply from the RS-485 bus.
Set the address to the first available free address. See appendix B “Expansion modules dipswitch settings”
for the correct address settings.
Figure 9. Wiring diagram AlphaVision Input + 8 OC outputs
The Input + 8 OC module has 8 inputs and 8 open collector (transistor) outputs. When detectors obtain their
power from the +12V and 0V of the input + 8 OC module, these detectors actually get their power from the
RS-485 bus.
The OC outputs are supplied with a 27-ohm resistor. These outputs can for instance be used to connect
LED’s on. If you connect LED’s to these outputs, you will have to place a resistor of for instance 1K2 ohm,
in series with the LED. It is possible to use the OC outputs for controlling a relay, however you should keep
in mind that the current drain is taken directly from the RS-485 bus! So pay close attention to the current
consumption!
The tamper switch can be bypassed by shorting the pins of JP2. This can be used when the Input + 8 o.c.
module is placed in a control panel or I/O module cabinet.
Attention:
The address settings for the input + 8 OC module are identical to the address settings of the I/O
module and differ from the address settings for the keypads. See also appendix B “Expansion modules
dipswitch settings”.
Attention:
The input + 8 OC module obtains its power from the RS-485 bus. The total current consumption
from the RS-485 bus is made up from the current drain of the input + 8 OC module (58 mA)
and
the current
drain of the connected detectors. Make sure the maximal distance to the power supply is not exceeded.
Pay
close attention from which clamps of the control panel or I/O module the +12V is obtained!
The RS-485
bus is equipped with a self restoring 750 mA fuse. When you install two input + 8 OC modules with 16
DUO-220AM detectors (23 mA each), the total current consumption from the bus is (2 x 58 + 16 x 23)

484 mA. If the current consumption is more than 750 mA, you will have to obtain the +12V for the bus from
the +12V Power clamps instead of the +12V RS-485 clamps.
