For instructions on how to start a remote management session, refer to the
GS970EMX Series Software Reference for AlliedWare Plus Operating
System .
To start a local management session with the management cable included
with the switch, perform the following procedure:
1. Power on the GS970EMX Switch. Refer to “Powering On the Switch”
on page 96.
2. Wait one minute for the switch to start the AlliedWare Plus
management software.
3. Connect the RJ-45 connector on the management cable to the
Console port on the front panel of the switch. Refer to Figure 64.

4. Connect the other end of the cable to an RS-232 port on a terminal or
personal computer with a terminal emulation program.
