Configure Switch Features
Chapter 3
Maximum Transmission Unit
(MTU)
The MTU defines the largest size of frames that an interface can send or
receive in a single network transaction.
In Device Manager, you can change the following MTU settings on the switch:
•
System MTU—Applies to all interfaces.
•
Jumbo MTU—Overrides the system MTU on all Gigabit Ethernet and
10-Gigabit Ethernet interfaces.
Configure the MTU via Device Manager
To configure the MTU, follow these steps.
1.
From the Admin menu, choose MTU.
2.
Complete the fields as described in
and click Submit.
\
3.
When the following message appears, click OK and restart the switch.
IMPORTANT
To use Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP), you must set the jumbo MTU size
to 1506 on all switches in LAN A and LAN B to help prevent the switch from
dropping PRP frames. This MTU value is not required for a switch configured
as a RedBox. See
PRP Considerations on page 213
.
