W32- Series Medium-Vertical Compressors
Page I - 25.
6. INTERMEDIATE
SEPARATOR
Proper operation of the individual compressions stages
will rely on the intermediate separator being properly
serviced.
6.1. Condensate drain
Drain condensate every 15 to 30 minutes from these
separatrs or ensure that the automatic condensate
drain unit drains regulary.
6.2. Sintered metal filter elements
Clean sintered filtered elements as follows:
Remove piping connected to filter head. Screw off
union nut. Remove filter head (1) along with sintered
filter element.
Remove centre screw (6), and separate sintered filter
element (5), baffle (4) and vortex plate (3) from the
filter head.
To clean filter element, the best method is to use hot
soapy water and to blow dry with compressed air.
7. FINAL SEPARATOR / FILTER SYSTEM
7.1. Oil and water separator
7.1.1. Lifetime
CAUTION
The oil and water separator is subject to
dynamic load. It is designed to withstand a
certain no.of load cycles. (1 load cycle = 1
pressurization, 1 depressurization.) The oil and
water separator must be replaced when the
maximum permissible no. of load cycles has
been reached.
The cycles are counted by the cycles counter of the
compressor control unit. After the max. Number of
load cycles have been reached, the separator must
be exchanged.

7.1.2. Sintered metal element
The sintered filter micro-cartritge requires periodic
maintenance.
•
Screw off filter head (2) and remove.
•
Unscrew micro-cartridge (1) from filter head (2).
•
Remove centre-screw (3) to remove filter
elements.
Clean sintered filter elements using hot soapy water
and blow dry with clean compressed air.
7.2. Filter system
7.2.1. General instruction
•
Depressurize system before starting any
maintenance work. The filter line can be vented
manualy with the venting valve, wait until the
pressure gauge reads zero.
•
Dry inside of filter housing with a clean cloth
before installing new catrridge and chech for
corrosion.
•
Lubricate threads and O-rings as well as endof
cartridge with both O-rings with white petrolatum.
Apply sparingly.
•
Observe number of operating hours indicated on
hourmeter to ensure exact attention to the
maintenance intervals.
