Recording and Picture Adjustments
For the best recording and picture results you can execute the following adjustments:
g
Recording lines:
It is possible to adjust the recorded lines before
and after triggering when using a photocell. This
adjustment is very important for many sports in
order to obtain a picture of the whole competitor.
You can adjust the recording lines before and af-
ter between 0 and 2000 pixel.
Recording lines <before> recommendation for
most sports: 140 pixels
Recording lines <after> recommendation for most
sports: 100 pixels

Other settings:
You can set parameters that influence the picture
quality.
<JPEG quality factor>: Set the compression ra-
tio of the picture. With 85 % you obtain very good picture quality.
The lower the compression, the lesser storage is needed and the
lower the picture quality.
<Color saturation>:
Adjust the colour intensity so that the colours
look natural.
<Image sharpening>:
You can sharpen the image. Factor ‘3’ usually
gets the best results. Depending on the situa-
tion another value might be better.
<Gamma>:
In case of difficult light conditions (e.g. sun
shining directly into the camera), adjusting
gamma can improve the picture quality. Ad-
justments as shown in the picture to the left
are possible. In difficult situations the setting
“High contrast” obtains best results.
i
Motion detection (OPTIc3-PRO):
With the motion detection you can automatically record images. The recording is started
by pixel changes. For the best possible recording result, you can set the sensitivity (thresh-
old) and the pixel range.
Threshold (sensitivity):
Adjustable from 0 to 15
The higher the value, the less sensitive the motion detection reacts. Normally with 7 you
have a setting that is ideal for most weather- and light conditions.
Pixel Range:
Often you do not want to use the lower or upper pixels, since in this part of the picture
often unwanted movements are detected (e.g. spectators or flags that move). The count-
ing of pixels of the camera sensor starts with pixel 1 at the bottom and ends with pixel
2016 (OPTIc3-PRO) or 1360 (OPTIc3) at the top.
OPTIc3-PRO:
<Full range> (1 – 2016):
all pixels are used for motion detection
<Upper pixel> (<2016
)
:
enter top pixel for motion detection
<Lower pixel (>1):
enter bottom pixel motion detection
OPTIc3 with Motion Detection (option):
<Full range> (1 – 1360):
all pixels are used for motion detection
<Upper pixel> (<1360
)
:
enter top pixel for motion detection
<Lower pixel (>1):
enter bottom pixel for motion detection
