Send friends a notification and ask them to

Manage sharing
Touch to set sharing options: Share best
available location;Share city-level location
only;Hide from this friend
Remove this friend
Remove this friend from your list and stop
sharing information with him or her.

You can control the information you want to share with your friends.

from Maps screen, then select

Mark to hide your location history.
Manage your
