Overview
The Unified Support Tool is as software application running on a Windows PC that provides 4 functions:
1) Parallel FirmWare Update (PFWU) of several 8212, 8232, 8242, 8262, 8262Ex DECT handsets
and DECT Intercom simultaneously. Handset must be of the same type during the simultaneous
update process.
The tool runs then in two distinct FWU modes selectable via a tab:
•
USB mode for 8242, 8262, 8262Ex via USB/Micro USB cable.
•
UART mode for 8212, 8232 and DECT Intercom via an USB/jack 3,5mm 4 points, adapter
module.
2) Auto configuration (only available for 8262 and 8262Ex): for mass configuring handsets with the
same configuration.
3) DECT Intercom configuration: for registering and configuring the DECT Intercom (port, number,
volume, …)
4) Debugging and Information (only available for 8242, 8262 and 8262Ex): for use by the Business
Partners or End customer to retrieve initial information about the handset and facilitating more
advanced bug analysis without prior knowledge.
Warning
This tool is now the ONLY supported method to upgrade the firmware of the 8212,
8232, 8242, 8262,8262Ex DECT handsets and DECT Intercom on the field.

This document is available from the version v28. If you are using a previous
version of the UST tool, please refer to the associated user manual.
Moreover, up to 8 devices of the same type can be upgraded in parallel by using a separate USB hub
connected to PC USB plug.
Acronyms

: Parallel FirmWare Update, the process to update the firmware of one or more DECT terminals in
parallel (simultaneously).

UART
: Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter is the microchip with programming that controls a
computer's interface to its attached serial devices.
