11. Important points
a) This device is not design for water sports, you must use the water-proof bag accessory.
b) This device will only work with the GPRS/GSM network.
c) Make sure that your SIM card has enough balance to enable texts to be sent back.
d) In all cases, consent should be obtained from any person that is given this tracking
device to carry with them. For clarity, the unit should only be used by those suffering
from early-
stage Alzheimer’s when they are still well enough to give consent.
12. Troubleshooting
If you find some trouble using your APT-14, please refer the following:
(1) Check GPS signal is sufficient. In normal operation ,the blue led should in blink rapidly i.e.
light for 0.1 second and then dark for 2.8 seconds. If the blue led is not in this correct state, it
indicates that the GPS signal is too weak to get position information. To remedy this:
(a) Working outdoors, APT-14 will get a much better GPS signal;
(b) The front side of APT-14 should be placed toward the sky;
(c) Charging APT-14 for 3 hours for the tracker has enough power before usage
(2) Check that the GSM signal is sufficient: In normal operation ,the green led should blink
rapidly i.e. light for 0.1 second and then dark for 2.8 seconds. If the green led is not in this correct
state, it indicates a GSM communication issue. Please try following remedies:
(a) Check whether your GSM network is strong enough to allow the tracker unit to connect to the
cell. You can test this by calling someone thorough your cell phone using the same network.
(b) Check whether the SIM card is installed.
(c) Whether there is enough credit in the SIM card and that the voicemail function is disabled.
(d). Check whether the SIM card in your APT-14 supports SMS function, (including send SMS and
receive SMS)
(e). Whether the SIM card has a specific requirement or is locked to a specified mobile phone.
(f). Whether the SIM card need PIN authorization before using it. For example, you may need type
a pin-code when you use the SIM in a new appliance. To rectify this please cancel any PIN
requirements using a mobile phone.
(g). Check whether the tracker has enough power to work, we strongly suggest it is charged at
least 3 hours before use and that the optional fixed wire lead is used for permanent in car
applications.
(3) Any SMS reply by the APT-14 including the characters
“ Last ……….” Indicates that the
GPS signal is weak.
