Installation Instructions
Important:
For optimum effi ciency, position the fan unit as close as possible to the outlet.
1. Select positions for inlet and outlet grilles. These should be clear of all
obstructions and no more than three metres apart. Additionally, the outlet should
be positioned away from windows and doors.
2. Using template on opposite page, cut an opening for both inlet and outlet.
3. Drill 3.6mm holes through required corner fi xing points of inlet and outlet grilles.
4. Place three duct clips 120° apart on collars of both inlet and outlet grilles as well
as on each end of the fan body. (See fi gures 1, 2 and 3.)
5. Attach duct securely over outlet collar, push back into the roof space and secure
outlet with appropriate fi xings for mounting surface. If using screws supplied,
ensure white screw cap arrangements are used to cover screw holes.
6. Select a site for the fan unit as close as possible to the outlet on a stable platform
such as a beam or post. (A saddle may be needed).
7. Make the electrical connections to the fan unit and attach the shortest possible
length of duct from the outlet collar to the fan, making sure that air fl ow is in the
correct direction. Air fl ow direction is from the motor towards the fan blades. (You
may choose not to have any ducting at all between the fan and outlet by inserting
the fan directly into the outlet collar and securing it with duct tape).
8. Keeping as straight a line as possible between the inlet and outlet points, fully
extend duct to minimise restriction of air fl ow and cut the duct to fi t to the fan unit.
Attach duct securely to fan unit and attach the other end of the remaining duct to
the collar of the inlet grille, making sure to secure the duct by passing it over the
duct clips.
9. Push inlet grille into the opening and screw fi x it in the upward position with
screws and anka plugs supplied, and ensure the supplied white screw cap
arrangements are used to cover screw heads.
It is illegal for persons other than licensed electricians, or persons authorised
by legislation, to work on the fi xed wiring of any electrical device.
