OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION

1. Use this Heater only as described in this manual.  Any other use

not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electri-

cal shock, or injury to persons.

2. This Heater is intended for GENERAL USE ONLY.
3. Make certain that the po wer source conforms to the electr ical

requirements of the Heater.

4. Extreme caution is necessar y when any Heater is used b y or

near children or invalids and whenever the Heater is left operat-

ing unattended.

5. The power cord is equipped with a three-prong grounded plug

that  must  be inser ted  into a matching receptacle .  Under no

circumstances must the grounding prong be cut off the plug.

Where a two-prong wall receptacle is encountered, it must be

replaced with a properly grounded three-prong receptacle, in-

stalled in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC)

and all applicable local codes and ordinances.  This work must

be done only by a qualified electrician, using copper wire only.

WARNING: USE OF A THREE-PRONG TO TWO-PRONG ADAPTER

IS NOT RECOMMENDED.  IMPROPER CONNECTION MAY CRE-

ATE THE RISK OF ELECTROCUTION.  USE OF SUCH ADAPTERS

ARE NOT PERMITTED IN CANADA.
6. Where possible, avoid the use of e xtension cords because the

extension cord may overheat and cause a r isk of fire.  If the y

must be used, minimize the risk of overheating by ensuring that

than 1875 watts and of proper length.  Never use a single exten-

sion cord to operate more than one Heater.

7. Do not operate any Heater with a damaged cord or plug or after

the Heater malfunctions, has been dropped or damaged in any

manner.  Return Heater to authorized service facility for exami-

nation, electrical or mechanical adjustment or repair.

8. Unplug power cord before servicing or moving the Heater. Al-

ways unplug Heater when not in use.

WARNING: DO NOT DEPEND ON THE ON/OFF SWITCH AS THE

SOLE MEANS OF DISCONNECTING POWER WHEN SERVICING

OR  MOVING THE  HEATER.   ALWAYS  UNPLUG THE  POWER

CORD.
9. Do not insert or allow fingers or foreign objects to enter any ventila-

tion or exhaust opening as it may cause an electric shock or fire, or

damage the Heater.  Do not block or tamper with the Heater in an y

manner while it is in operation.

10. To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in

any manner.  Do not place on soft surf aces, like a bed, where

openings may become blocked.

11. Always place the Heater on a stable, flat, level surface when oper-

ating, to avoid the chance of the Heater o verturning.  Locate the

Power Cord so the Heater or other objects are not resting on it.  Do

not run Power Cord under carpeting.  Do not cover Power Cord with

throw rugs, runners, or the lik e.  Arrange Power Cord away from

room traffic and where it will not be tripped over.

12. This Heater is hot when in use.  To avoid burns, do not let bare

skin touch hot surfaces.  Always use handle when mo ving this

Heater.  Keep combustible materials, such as furniture, pillows,

bedding, papers, clothes and curtains at least 3 feet (0.9 m) from

the front of the Heater and keep them at least 1 foot (0.3 m) from

the sides and rear.

13. A Heater has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside.    It must

NOT be used in potentially dangerous locations such as flam-

mable, explosive, chemical-laden or wet atmospheres.  Heater

is intended for general use ONLY.

14. This Heater is not intended f or use in w et or damp locations .

Never locate a Heater where it ma y fall into a bathtub or other

water container.

15. Do not use Heater outdoors.

WARNING: REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE OF ELECTRIC SHOCK

– DO NOT USE THIS HEATER WITH ANY SOLID STATE SPEED

CONTROL DEVICES.

OPERATION 

(Figure 1)

1. Carefully remove your Heater from the carton and bag.
2. Make  sure that the Heater is in the  “OFF”  (0) position bef ore

plugging the Heater into the outlet. The Power Knob should be

on “0”.

3. Place the Heater on a firm, level surface.
4. For Heater Operation, set the “Thermostat Knob” all the way to

HI ( ).

5. Move the “Power Knob” to the desired heat setting (High (2) or

Low (1)).

6. The power light will remain lit during operation.
7. To disconnect Heater, turn Power Knob to the “0” position, then re-

move plug from outlet.

WARNING: WIRE MESH IS HOT WHEN HEATER IS IN OP-

ERATION.

THERMOSTAT OPERATION

 (Figure 2)

1. Before setting the thermostat, allow Heater to operate and warm

up the room.  Set “Thermostat Knob” to HI ( ) to start the Heater.

2. When the desired temperature comfort level is reached, lower

the thermostat setting until the Heater stops operating.  This is

done by moving the “Thermostat Knob” towards the LOW ( )

setting.

3. The control will now automatically maintain the pre-set tempera-

ture level by cycling the Heater ON and OFF.  It is normal for the

Heater to cycle ON and OFF as it maintains the present tem-

perature.

SAFETY FEATURES

1. A  thermal  overload  protector is b uilt  in to the Heater to pre vent

overheating.

2. This Heater is also equipped with a Tip-Over Protection Switch. If

this unit is knocked over, it will automatically shut-off. Simply return

Heater to the upright position to resume normal operation.

3. When an overheat temperature is reached, the Heater will be au-

tomatically shut off.  It can only resume oper ation when the user

resets the unit.

4. This Heater is provided with an alarm, (Caution Light) to warn that

parts of the Heater are getting excessively hot. If the alarm, (Cau-

tion Light) is lit, immediately turn the heater off and inspect for any

objects on or adjacent to the Heater that may cause high tempera-

tures. DO NOT OPERATE THE HEATER WITH THE ALARM (CAU-

TION LIGHT) ON.

To Reset The Heater: (Figure 1)

1. Turn the “Power Knob” setting to the OFF (0) position.
2. Unplug the Heater and w ait 5-10 minutes for the Heater to cool

down.

3. After the Heater has cooled down, plug the Heater into the outlet

and operate normally.

MAINTENANCE

WARNING: ALWAYS UNPLUG THE CORD BEFORE MOVING OR

SERVICING.
DO NOT IMMERSE HEATER IN WATER
CLEANING:

 Clean the top Heater g rill with a vacuum brush attach-

ment on your vacuum cleaner.  This will remove lint and dirt from the

inside of the Heater.  DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TAKE APART HEATER.

Clean the body of the Heater with a soft cloth.  NEVER USE ALCO-

HOL OR SOLVENTS.
