Troubleshooting Performance Test Problems
This section describes the available Agilent MXG signal generator performance tests. These performance tests verify that the signal
generator meets specifications.
IMPORTANT
All test equipment configurations, cables and adapters must be properly torqued. Exceeding recommended torque values
can cause damage to a cable or adapter, and may cause inaccurate test results.
Manual Performance Test Problems
When a manual performance test fails or self tests, performed as part of the manual performance test, fails, use this table to locate the most
likely faulty assembly or action to perform. The tests are listed in the order they should be performed.

Leveled Output Power Verification
•
For the N5161A/81A signal generator, replace the A3 RF assembly.
•
For the N5162A/82A signal generator, ensure that digital modulation is turned off by pressing
the following keys:

Re-run the Leveled Output Power Verification test.
—
If the signal generator passes the Leveled Output Power Verification test, replace
the A2 Vector Module.
—
If the signal generator does not pass the Leveled Output Power Verification test,
replace the A3 RF assembly.
