• Open the tailgate
• Tension the net knife
• Move the net roller.
2.3.6 Pick-up Unit
The pick-up unit collects the crop from the swath and moves it to the feed rotor.
The augers bring the material from the sides into the centre.
Hydraulic cylinders on the two sides of the pick-up unit move the pick-up unit to the transport position (up)
or to the floating position (down).
In the floating position, the weight of the pick-up unit is supported by the guide wheels that are installed
when the machine is in the working position.
The pick-up unit has these parts:
• Pick-up rotor
• Wind guard
• Guide wheels.
Pick-up rotor
The pick-up rotor has 5 tine bars that rotate and pick-up the crop material. The drive for the pick-up rotor
comes from the Power Take-Off (PTO) shaft through the gearbox and the chain.
Wind guard (Optional)
The wind guard has a crop press roller that will push the crop material on to the pick-up roller. This makes
sure that there is a sufficient flow with all crop volumes. To stop any low or high points in the crop, the crop
roller will smooth out large quantities of crop.
The wind guard will keep crop loss to a minimum because of air turbulence. You can adjust the height of
the wind guard.
Guide wheels
The guide wheels on the two sides of the pick-up unit let the pick-up follow the surface of the ground. You
can adjust the height of the guide wheels to make sure that the pick-up rotor follows the terrain contour at
the optimised height.
2.3.7 Feed Rotor
The feed rotor moves the crop material through the cutting unit into the bale chamber. The drive for the
feed rotor is from the PTO shaft. Fingers on the feed rotor push the crop from the pick-up rotor through the
stationary knives into the bale chamber.
2.3.8 Cutting Unit
The cutting unit cuts the crop (grass, hay or straw) into smaller pieces. The cutting unit can have 1 or 2
groups of knives. The crop length will cause the change between these groups. If the cutting unit has one
knife group you can put in the knives or not. With two knife groups it is possible to put in:
• The two knife groups, for maximum cutting capacity
• Only the large knife group
• Only the smaller knife group
• No knives, the crop will not cut.
To put in the knives you must use the double acting valve in the tractor.
