Preparing the Puncture Site
Stimulating blood perfusion by rubbing the puncture site before blood extraction has a signifi ‑
cant influence on the glucose value obtained.
Blood from a site that has not been rubbed exhibits a measurably different glucose concentra‑
tion than blood from the finger.
When the puncture site was rubbed prior to blood extraction, the difference was significantly
reduced.
