SOS ALARM

2

SOS ALARM

This feature is used by lone workers in an emergency situation to signify that they
require assistance immediately. It will open up a two-way communication
between the lone worker and  the ARC operator.

SOS alarm activations are immediately responded to by ARC operators who are
experienced in handling emergency incidents. They will assess the situation,
locate the user and summon assistance.

HOW TO ACTIVATE

To activate an SOS alarm, press and hold the circular SOS button until you feel
the device vibrate and it bleeps. By doing this, the device will automatically make
a call to the ARC. It will also send the last known GPS location to our portal.

Once an alarm is activated, there is 20 seconds of silence where the operator will

be listening but will not be able to speak. This is to allow for effective listening and

to gather evidence that can be used in a court of law.

WHAT SHOULD I DO?

If it is safe to do so, please provide information of your exact location. An example
of this can be achieved in a covert manner “Mr. Jones I have not come to 22 Smith

Street to be locked in your flat, please calm down...”

Wherever possible, please talk to the operator (unless you would be putting your-
self in danger) to assist in gathering the facts and what type of situation you are in.

WHEN TO USE

Typically, an SOS alarm is used the moment you experience verbal, racial or
physical abuse as well as for accidents and injuries. Examples include:

> Direct threat of immediate violence or actual violence
> Escalating situation of anger/aggression
> Urgent medical assistance required
> Terrorist attack

All SOS alerts are dealt with as priority; filtered and handled in accordance with

BS: 8484 (potentially it could be a user in distress and in need of assistance so our
operators act quickly to resolve this).
