Inserting the Batteries
(not supplied)
• Open the lid of the battery compartment (21) on the
bottom by pushing the cover in the direction of the
arrow.
• Insert 6 batteries o f type UM2/LR14 1,5V (not sup-
plied). Please ensure that the polarity is correct (see
the inside of the battery compartment)! If the device is
not used for a long period of time, remove the batte-
ries to avoid the spilling of battery acid.
• Close the battery compartment, making sure not to
trap the mains lead.
Note:
Do not dispose of batteries in the domestic waste.
Please return used batteries to the relevant collection
points or the shop where they were bought.
Never throw batteries into a fire.
Transport Safety Device, CD Compartment
Open the CD compartment (1) by pulling the lid upwards
by the tab (12). Before operating the machine for the first
time, remove the transport safety device from the CD play-
er if it is still in place.
Headphone Socket
Please use headphones with a 3.5 mm jack, which should
be inserted in the PHONES socket (13). The loudspeakers
are then switched off.
Switch-off
The machine is switched off when the function selector
switch (20) is turned to the OFF position. Unplug the
device.
Listening to the Radio
1. Turn the function selector switch (20) to the TUNER
position.
2. Select the desired frequency band with the band
selection switch (18).
Medium wave = AM (Mono), VHF = FM, VHF (Stereo)
= FM ST.
3. For VHF/FM mode pull out the telescopic antenna (16)
and turn it to improve reception.
4. Tune into the desired station using the TUNING regu-
lator (17).
5. The stereo control lamp FM ST. (8) only lights up
when you have selected FM stereo and the station
is being received in stereo quality. If reception is too
weak and there is interference, it is possible that the
stereo control lamp will not light up.
6. Proceed in a similar manner if you wish to receive
MW/AM stations. On this frequency band all program-
mes are transmitted only in „mono“.
7. To switch off the radio, shift the function selector (20)
to the OFF position.
8. The desired volume can be sent using the VOLUME
regulator (19).
Playing CD’s
1. Push the function selection switch (20) to CD.
2. Open the CD compartment (1) by pulling the lid
upwards by the tab (12).
3. Insert a CD with the printed side facing up and close
the CD deck.
4. „- -“ appears in the display (7) followed by the number
of tracks. Press the
/
II
PLAY/PAUSE button (3) in
order to play the CD. The CD will play from the first
title. A dot lights up in the display on the right.
5. With
I
SKIP (11) you can jump to the next or pre-
vious track etc.
If the button is kept pressed down, the machine starts
to search through the tracks.
6. The
I
SKIP button (10) can be used as follows:
Press once = This starts the current track
again from the beginning.
Press a second time = This jumps back to the pre-
vious track.
Press a third time = This plays the song before etc.
If the button is kept pressed
down, the machine starts to
search through the tracks.
7. In order to remove a CD, please press the
STOP
button (2), open the CD compartment and lift the CD
out carefully.
Please note these instructions for playing back CDs
and CDRs in MP3 format! The device is not able to
play back MP3 fi les. The CD begins to turn, but the
sound cannot be heard.
Always keep the CD deck closed.
Note:
If a disc is inserted incorrectly, or no disc is inser-
ted, the symbol „- -“ appears in the display.
PLAY/PAUSE (3)
When a CD is playing. You can
briefly interrupt the playing. The
right-hand dot in the display (7)
flashes.
Press the
/

PLAY/PAUSE (3)
button again in order to continue
playback.
REPEAT (4)
When a CD is playing the REPEAT
button has a repeat function. First
start the CD and then press the
REPEAT button.
Press once (The left hand dot in
the display flashes, while the right
hand dot lights up.): the current
track is repeated continuously.
Press a second time (both dots in
the display light up):
the whole CD is played conti-
nuously.
Press a third time: the function is
deactivated.
