Cassette Operation
Playing Back Cassettes
1. Please press the function selector switch TAPE (6/25).
2. Open the door (19). The word TAPE appears in the
display.
3. Press
the
/
stop/eject button (19b) to open the
cassette compartment (17).
4. Insert a recorded audiocassette with the tape facing
downwards and side you wish to hear facing for-
wards into the compartment. Then close the cassette
compartment.
5. Press
the
play button (19e) to play back the tape.
6. With the
/
stop/eject button you can stop play-
back.
7. If necessary, wind the tape forwards or backwards in
the direction of the arrows
= forwards (19c);
= reverse (19d).
Always press the
/
stop/eject button to stop the
tape and when changing the direction of the tape.
This prevents damage to the device and to the tape.
8. When
the
/
stop/eject button is pressed again,
the door of the cassette compartment opens.
9. In order to interrupt playback briefl y, press the II
pause button (19a).
Pressing this button again restarts playback.
Recording on Cassette
1. Insert an audiocassette with the side on which you
wish to record facing the front. Please ensure that the
cassette is not protected against recording (the copy
protection tab on the top narrow side of the cassette
must not have been broken out).
2. Select the recording source with the function selector
switches CD (4/42) or BAND/TUNER (12/26) and start
this source if necessary. Recording is made from the
sound source that you can hear. The recording level
is automatically adjusted. Changes to the tone and
volume do not change the recording.
3. Please press the
record button (19f) and the play
button (19e) simultaneously. Recording now begins.
All previous recordings are automatically deleted.
4. The recording can be briefl y interrupted with the II
pause button or stopped with the
/
stop/eject
button.
Playing CDs
Inserting CDs
1. Press the CD button (4/42). The device changes to
CD operation. Important: Do not open or close the
CD compartment lid by hand, as this will damage the
mechanism. If it should become necessary in excep-
tional cases to open or close the CD compartment
lid by hand, for example in the case of a power cut,
this should be done extremely slowly and carefully
without using any force whatsoever.
2. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button (10) to open the CD
compartment lid.
3. Remove any transport screws that may be present.
4. Insert an audio CD with the printed side facing up-
wards on the central cone so that the CD clicks into
place. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button (10) to close
the CD compartment lid.
In order to change or remove a CD, please proceed
in the same way as described above.
Playing the CD(s)
1. In the display (9) the word „LOAD“ appears and then
the word „CD”, followed by the number of tracks
and the total playing time of the CD. Press the
/
II CD play/pause button (11/30) in order to play the
CD. The CD is played from the fi rst track onwards.
The current track and the amount of time that has
elapsed are shown in the display.
2. The desired volume can be set using the VOLUME
control (16/29/38).
3. In order to remove a CD, press the
CD stop button
(13/37), open the CD compartment with the OPEN/
CLOSE button (10) and lift the CD carefully out.
Always keep the CD lid closed.
Note: If a disc is inserted the wrong way round, the
message „ERR 1“ appears in the display. If no disc has
been inserted the message „NO DISC“ is shown.
Description of the CD Buttons
/ II (11/30):
Playback can be briefl y interrupted
with this button. Pressing this button a
second time continuous playback from
the same position. The display shows
the
symbol or the II symbol.
I
(3/31): Press
once
=
Jumps to the previous track.
Press twice =
Plays one track before that etc. Kee-
ping this button pressed down starts
the music search function.
I (5/36):
With this button you can jump to the
next or next-but-one track etc. Kee-
ping this button pressed down starts
the music search function.
Stop (13/37): The CD is stopped.
REPEAT
(15/34):
Press once (REPEAT appears in the
display):
The current track is constantly
repeated.
Press twice (REPEAT ALL appears in
the display):
The entire CD is constantly repeated.
Press three times:
This function is deactivated.
Programmed Playback
This permits programming of any desired order of tracks.
1. Press
STOP.
2. Press the MEMORY button (7/33). „P01“ (storage lo-
cation) appears in the display together with the word
MEMORY. Press the I
/
I buttons to select the
desired track and then press the MEMORY button
again. The display changes to storage location P02.
3. Press
the
I
/
I buttons to choose the next track
and press the MEMORY button again. Repeat this
process until you have selected all tracks.
4. Press
the
/ II button. Playback now begins. The
word MEMORY lights up. With this button you can
also briefl y interrupt the programme.
5. Press
the
stop button once to stop playback. The
programme is deleted.
It is possible to combine the programmed tracks with
the REPEAT function. After you have programmed and
