GENERAL OPERATIONS
•
Each unit is supplied complete with probe and 12 Vdc adapter.
•
Connect the 12 Vdc adapter to the power supply connector
and to the mains.
•
Make sure the unit has been calibrated before using it.
•
For taking measurements immerse the tip (4 cm) of the
probe into the solution to be measured, then shake briefly.
Note: For accurate measurements it is recommended that the
probe does not touch nor stand close to the side walls of
the vessel.
•
The display will show the EC (ECO406) or TDS (ECO407)
value, in mS/cm or ppm unit respectively. Wait a few seconds
for the reading to stabilize and the meter will start continuous
monitoring.
•
To turn the unit off simply unplug the 12 Vdc adapter from the
mains.
CALIBRATION PROCEDURE
For better accuracy, frequent calibration of the instrument is
recommended.
Anyway the meter should be calibrated at least once a month
and after performing probe cleaning procedure.
•
Choose the proper calibration solution (see
below) and, if possible, use plastic beakers to
minimize any EMC interference.
•
Use solution AD70031 (1413 µS/cm) for
ECO406 and AD70442 (1500 ppm) for ECO407.
•
Immerse the probe in the calibration solution,
making sure that the metal pins are completely
submerged.
•
Using a small screwdriver adjust the CAL
trimmer to read "1.41" mS/cm for ECO406 or
"1500" ppm for ECO407.
•
The calibration is now complete and the instrument is ready
for use.

PROBE MAINTENANCE
To minimize clogging and provide longer life to the probe, it is
recommended to clean it often, or at least once a month.
•
Immerse the tip of the probe in rinse solution for one hour or
clean it with detergents used to wash irrigation pipelines and
fertilizer vessels.
•
If a more thorough cleaning is required, brush the metal pins
with very fine sandpaper.
•
After cleaning and before storing the probe, rinse it with tap
water.
