Optical Fiber Bundles
To facilitate connecting a 40-port MUX/DMX Channel Splitter and Combiner
Shelf to multiple optical modules ADVA Optical Networking optical fiber bundles
can be used. Two variants of optical fiber bundles are available:
•
J/SM/LC/OCT/0800
•
J/SM/LC/HEX/0800
Optical Link Testing
To perform a smooth installation, test and certify all upstream and downstream
fiber spans. For parameters such as fiber type, maximum link distance, wave-
lengths, and link loss budgets required for testing optical links on the client side,
refer to the channel module specifications. To ensure proper FSP 3000R7 sys-
tem operation, the optical links on the network side must be tested. If no test
report is available, measure loss and length in optical fibers.
lists the link tests required, the unit of measurement, and the instruments
needed to perform the tests.
Cabling Requirements
•
Keep power cables, data cables, and fiber-optic cables clear of foot traffic.
Route power cables and fiber-optic cables in vertical cable ducts on the rack
under the floor, through the ceiling, or in protective channels or raceways.
•
Stay within the cable length limitations.
Requirements for Installing the OTDR
This section describes the requirements for installing the OTDR.
Power Supply Requirements
The OTDR is available with AC integrated power supplies. Each unit of the
OTDR is powered independently. The power supplies can operate between
100V and 240V ± 10%, at a frequency in the range from 50 to 60 Hz. The total
maximum power consumption of the OTDR is 108 W.
