Whenever installing or removing units from a remote enclosure, be sure to wear an
antistatic wrist strap and connect it to the ESD strap input.

Open the remote enclosure cover.

Plug your ESD wrist strap into the ESD above the HMU slot.

Set the user options for status LEDs. Refer to the HRU technical practice for details. User options
usually include setting the:
•
DS1 receive level
•
TLOS
•
Sealing current
•
Local or line power selection

Refer to the HRU pinout in
if remote chassis is not pre-wired.

Slide the remote unit into the card guides for the desired slot, then push the unit into the enclosure
until it is seated in the card-edge connector. The unit should snap into place, indicating that the unit
is properly seated. The HRU should power up within 30 seconds.
