time (if you need to soak food residues, fill the pot with warm water); its external
bottom part is not covered with glazing, it is porous and can soak up water, which
must be prevented. • Never switch on the appliance when the ceramic container
is empty! • Notice: Prepare food only in a ceramic inner container! • Note: after a
period of use the ceramic pot may show slight imperfections (cobwebs), this is a
normal phenomenon and is not a cause for concern.
Before first use:
• Read this manual carefully. Keep this manual for future referen-
ce. • Carefully remove the packing material. • Before plugging to the socket for the
first time, check that the mains voltage corresponds with the voltage indicated on
the label on the bottom of the appliance. • Before connecting to the mains, check
that the switch (power control) is in the OFF position. •
Place the appli-
ance on a level, stable surface so that it does not tip over during operation.
• Wash the removable ceramic pot and lid in warm soapy water, dry thoroughly.
Never immerse the exterior of the appliance in water!
• Note: You may notice a slight smoke or odour when you use it for the first time. This
phenomenon is quite normal and will soon disappear.
USE:
• Place the prepared food in a ceramic inner container and place the inner con-
tainer in the base of the appliance, then close the glass lid.
• Make sure that the control knob is in the OFF position. Connect the appliance to the
mains.
• Set the knob to LOW (lower power) / HIGH (higher power) depending on the type
of food and the recipe you choose
• Once the food is ready, switch the appliance off by the turning the knob to the OFF
position or use the KEEP WARM function to keep your food warm
• After switching off the appliance and removing the food, wait for the ceramic pot
to cool down or remove it with heat insulated gloves
KEEP WARM FUNCTION
•
This appliance is equipped with the KEEP WARM
function. • When this function is switched on, the appliance will keep the food
warm. • Another option is to use the slow cooker to heat an already cooked dish.
• Do not exceed 4 hours when keeping the food warm. Prolonged periods of time
could cause it to dry out, or change its taste, etc.
TIPS FOR SLOW COOKING
•
If you have placed a ceramic pot with food in a ref-
rigerator and then plan to heat the food, allow the ceramic pot to stand at room
temperature for at least 40 minutes, otherwise there is a risk of pot cracking.
• The ceramic pot must not be used for cooking on any type of stove or for baking in
an oven.
• Cut the root vegetables into small pieces, since cooking vegetables usually takes
longer than cooking meat.
• We also recommend roasting the vegetables in a pan for a short time before pla-
cing them in the pot for a more pronounced flavour.
• Always place the vegetables on the bottom of the pot and make sure all ingredi-
ents are immersed in the liquid.
• Remove any excess fat from the meat since cooking in a slow cooker does not allow
the fat to evaporate.
• If you intend to use a recipe that is not designed specifically for a slow cooker, we
recommend that you reduce the amount of liquid, since water does not evaporate
during cooking in this appliance as in normal cooking.
• Soak uncooked beans in advance and then boil for about 10 minutes. For best
results, we recommend filling the pot at least halfway. If more liquid needs to be
evaporated from the food, we recommend that you switch the appliance to HIGH
at a higher temperature, remove the lid, and continue to simmer for 30-40 minu-
tes.
• Remove the lid rarely, as this will cause unnecessary steam leakage and increase
the cooking time by approx. 10 minutes for each lifting.
• Always make sure the pot is not too full, leave at least 5 cm of free space from the
lid when cooking a soup.
• Preparing meat dishes usually requires 8-10 hours at LOW or 4-6 hours at HIGH
setting.
• Always use completely thawed food.
• Some food is not suitable for use in a slow cooker such as pasta, seafood, cream,
etc. We recommend adding them to the food at the end of cooking time.
• Food in a slow cooker should always be immersed in some type of liquid, such as
sauce, broth, etc.
• When cooking pieces of meat, ham, poultry, etc., the size and shape of the parts
is very important. Keep the parts in the lower 2/3 of the pot and cover them with
water completely. If necessary, cut them into several pieces.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE:
• Unplug the appliance and allow it to cool down
before cleaning. • Wash the ceramic pot with warm water.
• To remove food residue, it is advisable to fill the container with warm water and
let the residue soak. • Do not use steel wool on the ceramic pot! This may scratch
the surface. • Wipe the outside of the appliance with a damp cloth. Do not use
abrasive cleaners, petrol, thinners, etc. to clean it. • Notice: Never immerse the
outer container in water! • We do not recommend washing the ceramic pot
and glass lid in the ishwasher!
