RAI state (see
and
) – In structure-agnostic mode, RAI
signals are sent transparently from end to end.
Forwarding in Structure-Aware Mode
The structure-aware (structured) mode is divided to two subtypes:
trail-terminated and trail-extended.
Trail-Terminated Mode
In structure-aware trail-terminated mode, alarms are forwarded depending on the
TDM failure type:
•
TDM channel error (see
) – causes the TDM PW to enter a
'forward-detect-state' and use the L and M bits (L=1, M=0) of the CESoPSN
control word to propagate the alarm towards the remote ACE unit. Then,
upon receiving the L and M bit values, the remote ACE unit generates Trunk
condition signals towards the remote TDM end.

•
TDM pseudowire error (see
) – causes the local ACE to send Trunk
condition signals towards the TDM end, and to propagate the alarm in the
upstream direction over the PSN using the R bit (R=1) of the CESoPSN control
word, while denoting PSN RDI.
