Compensation Calibration
This example uses 5 inch measurement standards and an Accurate
Technology ProTable as the measuring system under calibration. Other
applications and different length measurement standards would be similar.
To program the compensation table into the ProScale Display, (firmware
version must end in C), complete the following steps:
1. Be sure that
Pr 27
(Accuracy Compensation Enable) is set to 1 and
that
Pr 28
(Compensation Multiple) has been configured to the
proper length of measurement standards that will be used during
calibration. See Section 4
P
ROGRAMMING
for instructions on how to
enter programming mode.
2. Turn the Display off. Now press and hold down the zero (0) key and
the On/Off key for approximately 14 to18 seconds. After that time,
the display will turn on and complete an LCD segment test. You can
release the On/Off and zero buttons at this time.
3. After the LCD test is complete, the display will show the firmware
version for about 1 second. This will be followed by the displaying of
the current position alternating with the text “
”. This indicates
that the display is attempting to show a position OUTSIDE the
compensated range. This is occurring because there is NO
compensation table data currently programmed into the display. This
alternating display will continue throughout the calibration process.
4. Place the ProTable moving jaw against the fixed jaw. Press the zero
(0) key to zero the current position.
5. Press the F1 key. This enters the first compensation point into the
display. The display will momentarily show “
” indicating that the
entry was accepted.
6. Open the jaws and place the first measurement standard (5”) against
the back fence, if installed. Close the moving jaw until the face of the
jaw gently touches the measurement standard. Press the F1 key.
The display will show “
” indicating the first measurement
standard has been digitized.
7. Open the jaws and insert another measurement standard (5”). Close
the moving jaw until the face of the jaw gently touches the
measurement standard. Press F1. The display will show “
”
briefly. Continue this procedure with one or more standards placed
end to end every 5 inches until the maximum measuring range has
been achieved. After the last standard distance has been digitized,
press the F2 key. The display will momentarily show “
” indicating
that the calibration process has ended.
