8 Maintenance and cleaning
TIG welding torch
The parts of the TIG welding torch listed below are subject to wear and soiling. This is why these
parts must be subjected to regular maintenance and cleaning:
• Torch body
• Gas nozzle
• Tungsten electrodes
• Back cap
• Electrode holder
Sharpening the tungsten electrode
Sharpening the tungsten electrode depends on wear and must therefore be carried out when
required.
To sharpen the tungsten electrode, use a sharpening device with a diamond wheel. In doing so,
observe the following:
• The point is sharpened longitudinally through the center axis.
• Automatic regulation of the tungsten electrode drive by gravity.
• Can be set for all electrode diameters.
• Continuous adjustment of the angle.
NOTICE
• The maintenance intervals given are recommended values and refer to single-shift
operation.
• Only qualified personnel are permitted to perform work on the device or system.
• Check coolant hoses, seals, and connections for damage and tightness. Replace as
necessary.
• Check and wear your personal protective equipment.
