9.4 Archive File Types
All archive files created by the analyzer are assigned filenames
automatically. Each type of archived file is assigned a different
file extension – see also Section 5.7.3, page 37.
Archive files are created as either:
Text format data files
or
Binary format files
File types and extensions for Text files are:
Data files containing stream data.
Text files – *.D** extension
Binary files – *.B** extension
Alarm event log files containing the historical record of the
alarm events related to the stream(s) plus the history of
any operator messages.
Text files – *.E** extension
Binary files – *.EE* extension
Audit log files containing the historical entries from the
audit log.
Text files – *.A** extension
Binary files – *.AE* extension
9.5 Data Files
Text format archived data is stored in a comma-separated value
format and can be imported directly into a standard
spreadsheet, for example, Microsoft
®
Excel. The files can also
be saved in ASCII text format.
Alternatively, you can carry out detailed graphical analysis of the
data on a PC using our DataManager data analysis software.
9.5.1 Data Filenames
Data files can be configured to contain data gathered over a
predefined period of time ('New File Interval') – see
Section 5.7.3, page 37. The 'Analyzer Tag' is set in the
configuration – see Section 5.3.1, page 25.
Hourly filename
<hour> <day, month, year> <analyzer tag>
Daily filename
<day, month, year> <analyzer tag>
Monthly filename
<month, year> <analyzer tag>
None filename
<analyzer tag>
In addition to new channel data files being created according to
the 'New File Interval', they are also created in the following
circumstances:
The analyzer's power is lost then restored.
The analyzer is taken offline and the archive media
removed, replaced or refitted.
The analyzer's configuration is changed.
One of the current files exceeds the maximum permissible
size.
When the daylight saving period starts or ends.
When one of the above conditions occurs, new channel data
files are created for each enabled group and the file extension
index on each new file is incremented by one from the previous
file.
If the original file had an extension of .D00, after one of the
above events a new file is created with the same filename but an
extension of .D01.
Note.
The time and date are formatted according to the
date format set in 'Common Configuration'.
Note.
The analyzer's internal clock can be configured to
adjust automatically at the start and end of 'Daylight Saving
Time' periods.
