Attendant Console
Installation
The 3Com 3105 Attendant Console is available in two models, A and B.
Attendant Console
Installation
with DHCP
The easiest way to install a 3Com 3105A or 3105B Attendant Console
assumes that the device obtains an IP address from a DHCP server. Your
DHCP server provides the Attendant Console with the IP addresses of the
primary and secondary Call Processors and the primary and secondary
download servers. The Attendant Console uses this information to
download the appropriate software image, after which it is operational
and available for further configuration by the System Administrator. No
manual configuration is required, provided that your DHCP server is
configured to provide configuration parameters through DHCP options
120 and 184.
If you do not use DHCP configuration method, you must manually
configure the 3105 Attendant Console using the serial console
connection on the back of the unit. An adapter cable (see
later in this chapter) is required.
The 3105A and 3105B models require configuration commands with
slightly different formats. To determine which model you have, examine
the 3Com 3C number on the label that is located on the underside of
your Attendant Console. The number will be either 3C10405A or
3C10405B.
To manually configure your Attendant Console, see the appropriate
section for the model you have:

Adapter Cable
If your network does not provide configurarion information through a
DHCP server, you must manually configure the Attendant Console.
To configure a 3Com 3105A or 3105B Attendant Console, you must have
an adapter that connects to a male 9-pin (DB9) serial port on your PC and
has an RJ-45 port that accepts an Ethernet cable.
