Standby Suspend
State
You can place a standby switch in
standby suspend state
via the
(1)\ (4)\ (3) \(2) option in the LMA. When a redundant switch fabric
module is in standby suspend state, it cannot replace the active switch
fabric module in the event of a reset or failure. The standby suspend state
activates if the active switch is not extracted.
This option is useful when you upgrade software, for example, on the
active switch fabric module, and you do not want the redundant switch
fabric module to take over. First, place the redundant switch fabric
module into maintenance mode and upgrade the software on the main
switch fabric module. After the upgrade has completed, reset the main
switch. If the software functions correctly, transfer the software to the
redundant switch fabric module and reset it.
To release a switch fabric module from the maintenance state, and return
it to regular state, use the LMA or simply reset the switch.
