Introducing the Commands
This chapter introduces the commands and gives a summary of commands available.
19.1 Overview
In addition to the web configurator, you can use commands to configure the OMC. Use
commands for advanced OMC diagnosis and troubleshooting. If you have problems with your
OMC, customer support may request that you issue some of these commands to assist them in
troubleshooting.

19.1.1 Configuration File
When you configure the OMC using either the CLI or web configurator, the settings are saved
as a series of commands in a configuration file on the OMC. You can perform the following
with a configuration file:
• Back up OMC configuration once the OMC is set up to work in your network.
• Restore OMC configuration.
• Use the same configuration file to set all OMCs in your network to the same settings.

You may also edit a configuration file using a text editor. Make sure you
use valid commands. The OMC rejects configuration files with invalid or
incomplete commands.
19.2 Accessing the CLI
You can use a direct console connection or Telnet to access the CLI on the OMC.
