6. Powering and Connecting the BPS12
31
Danger
The ac power cord provides the safety ground for the BPS12. You must keep this
cord properly connected at all times.
Caution
Do not place objects on the power cord. Run the power cord so that people cannot
step on or trip on the power cord.
Warning
Do not overload wall outlets as this might result in a blown fuse, overheating, or a
fire.

Connecting the BPS12 to an MX250 or MX1200
This section describes the process of connecting a BPS12 load output to an MX250 or MX1200.
Connecting the BPS12 requires a Battery Power Cable.
Important
Use only a Battery Power Cable supplied by Zultys to connect the BPS12 to your
MX250 or MX1200. Use of any other cable may damage your equipment, cause
bodily injury, and will void your warranty.
1.
Verify that the Standby Switch is in the ‘O’ position.
Caution
Always turn off the Standby Switch before connecting the Battery Power Cable to
the BPS12. Failure to do so will damage the Cable and may damage the BPS12.
2.
Connect one end of the Battery Power Cable to one of the six dc power outputs on the rear
panel of the BPS12. Figure 4-2 displays the six outputs on the panel. Each output is
equivalent. The plug on the Battery Power Cable is keyed and can be placed on the dc output
in only one way.
3.
Plug the other end of the Battery Power Cable into your MX250 or MX1200.
•
On the MX250, plug the cable into the –48 V, 6 A input located on the upper left corner of
the rear panel. The current that your MX250 draws from the BPS12 depends upon the
configuration of your system.
•
On the MX1200, plug the cable into the –48 V, 10 A input located on the lower left corner
of the rear panel. The current that your MX1200 draws from the BPS12 depends upon the
configuration of your system.
6.4
Connecting Multiple BPS12 Devices
You can connect multiple BPS12 units to increase the total battery capacity. Although this does not
increase the maximum output current, connecting multiple units increase the discharge time
proportionately by the number of units that you connect. You can connect up to five BPS12 units
for a maximum discharge capacity (at 0.6 A) of 60 Ah.
