Measure from the back of the stinger to the drive
dog. Subtract 3/8 inch.
This is the length to be cut from the cable.
In the picture, we would cut 6 inches off of the front
end of the cable.
Mea
sure carefully, as we can’t add to a cable that is
too short!
Carefully cut the cable with a Dremel and cut off
wheel. Deburr the end.
When we are done, with the cable fully seated in the
collet, the drive dog will have a 3/8 inch gap from
the stinger.
We need this gap, as the cable “winds up” and
shortens under load, the engine mount rubber will
flex,
and we don’t want the drive dog to rub the end
of the stinger.
