10.5 Commissioning the cooling system
NOTICE:
For information about the cooling circuit, coolant and cooling unit, refer to section „Installing the cooling
system“.
Before commissioning, the entire cooling circuit must be checked for operational readiness.
• Coolant:
Ö
Is the described coolant available in sufficient quantity?
• Connecting lines:
Ö
Are you sure there are no hoses pinched off? Is the described flow correct?
• Cooling unit:
Ö
Does the cooling unit have the described characteristics?
10.6 Thermistors
NOTICE:
At least one of the two thermistors (PTC130 or PT1000) must be connected to the machine control system in
order to prevent damage resulting from overheating.
Zimmer GmbH recommends evaluating both thermistor values (of the PTC130 or PT1000).
Before commissioning, you must check whether the thermistors are connected to the machine control system and whether
they are operative.
A PTC130 thermistor and a PT1000 thermistor are built in the product. The two resistors are intended to monitor the
temperature of the motor.
10.6.1 PTC130 thermistor
CAUTION:
Material damage from inappropriate thermistor settings
Operating the product with a PTC130 thermistor value above 4000 Ω will cause damage to or destruction of the
product!
Ö
Never exceed the PTC130 thermistor value of 4000 Ω.
Ö
If the PTC130 thermistor reaches this value, the product must be stopped immediately!
The characteristic curve of the PTC130 thermistor shows a sudden change to the resistance value at the nominal
temperature/reference temperature. Below this temperature, the characteristic curve is almost linear. This makes the
PTC130 thermistor suitable for emergency shutoff when the reference temperature is exceeded.
The PTC130 thermistor must be connected to the machine control system.
10.6.2 PT1000 thermistor
CAUTION:
Material damage from inappropriate thermistor settings
Operating the product with a PT1000 thermistor value above 1460 Ω will cause damage to or destruction of the
product!
Ö
Never exceed the PT1000 value of 1460 Ω.
Ö
If the PT1000 thermistor reaches this value, the product must be stopped immediately!
The characteristic curve of the PT1000 thermistor shows a linear progression of the resistance value with a simultaneous
linear temperature increase. This makes the PT1000 thermistor suitable for the output and visualization of the actual
temperature of the motor (coil), or also for trend evaluation.
The PT1000 thermistor must be connected to the machine control system.
