INSTALLATION WARNING
This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy, and
if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual may
cause interference to radio communications.
Installation of the Model 16 should be accomplished by personnel with
experience in radio and paging systems.
INSTALLING NEW EPROMS
Whenever a modification is made to the Model 16 operational software, a
new EPROM chips must be installed in the unit. These chips are delicate
and sensitive to static electricity. Whenever handling them, be sure to
keep your fingers in contact with the chassis sheet metal to keep yourself
grounded. Only remove the chip from the static protective shipping material
when you are ready to install it.
To install a new EPROM chip:
1.
Turn off the power or remove the power connector at the rear.
2.
Remove the top cover.
3.
Gently pry the old EPROM from the socket labeled "U14 ROM".
4.
Install the new EPROM into this socket. It must be oriented so
that the notch at one end aligns with the notch in the socket.
5.
Carefully inspect the pins on the chip. Correctly installed, the
pins will be fully inserted and not bent under the chip or
outside of the socket.
6.
Apply power to the Model 16 and check the front panel LEDs for
a proper display.
7.
Replace the top cover of the unit.
FIRST TIME INSTALLATION
These instructions will describe the installation of a Model 16 that has
not been previously connected or programmed. Using the list of I/O signals
following this section, the installation can be performed in the following
sequence:
