Notice of Reassembly
7-1 Engine Short Block Assembly
4) Crankcase Gasket
NOTE:
Be sure to use the new parts of the crankcase
gasket.

Cut off the crankcase gasket ends exceeding
the cylinder mating surface.

When cutting the gasket, cut it outward from
inside, so that the gasket will not fall into the
inside of the crankcase.
5) Piston Ring
Align the end gap of the piston ring exactly with
stopper pin of the piston.
6) Piston, Piston Pin and Snap Ring

Make sure to point the triangle mark on the
piston head to the exhaust (muffler) side.

Install the piston pin with the rod assy. of
special tool (see page 16).

Fit the snap ring in the groove of the piston
firmly and turn the end gap of the snap ring to
the opposite side of the notch.

After the assembly, check that it moves
smoothly in the groove by turning the snap
ring with a thin tool of the tip. If the snap ring is
not securely fitted into the groove, it does not
move smoothly.
NOTE:

If the snap ring does not fit properly into the
groove or the end gap of the snap ring is
incorrectly positioned, and the snap ring
come off during operation, it may damage the
engine.

Never reuse the snap ring, replace it with a
new on.
