Fix the bottom of the sensor on the mounting hole, and apply the load from the top.
ZEMIC provides a round sealing ring for sealing the gap between the lower end of the sensor and
the customer's bottom mounting plate to prevent microbial contamination.
This sealing ring has an FDA approval (silicone rubber RH200-50).
The sensor has a small ridge on top the rubber coating from the cup, that creates a seal between the
sensor and the customer’s top mounting plate. No additional sealing is necessary there.
The EHEDG guideline recommends a minimum clearance between the equipment and the floor or
wall of 300mm for easy access for cleaning and inspection.
Make sure the required screws have dome shaped heads and are EHEDG compliant/approved.

2.2 Pre-Cautions
During the sensor installation process, the following matters should be noted:
1)
Operate the sensor carefully; do not to bump or scratch the unit, do not pull the cable.
2)
During on-site installation, welding current shall not pass through the sensor. If this can’t be
avoided during installation, an appropriate low Ohmic resistance connection must be made to
bypass the sensor electrically before welding.
3)
Ensure that overload of the sensor’s capacity is to be prevented at all times.
If possible, the customer is to install a mechanical overload protection.
As with precision measuring components, the sensor should be handled with care.
Any knock or drop may cause permanent damage to the sensor.
4)
Install the sensor(s) according to the directions given in the EHEDG documents e.g. 8, 13 etc.
E.g. mount the sensor(s) in a self-draining orientation, which means that the angles will be
chosen in such a way that fluids can be drained completely by gravity alone.
5) In case welded adapters/mounting plates, etc. are used, the food contact surfaces must have a
surface roughness of Ra ≤ 0.8 µm, adapters must be TIG welded
. Directions for welding are
given in EHEDG documents 9 and 35.
6) Install the sensor with the first 100mm of the cable exiting the cable gland in perpendicular
fashion, so that the cables’ own weight is supported and no bend
ing at the gland is possible.
