11.6 Electromagnetic compatibility
Special electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements apply to
this system. To avoid electromagnetic disturbances, which could
have a serious effect on the patient or the user, the system may
only be installed, operated and serviced in accordance with the
user manual and using the components supplied by
Carl Zeiss Meditec.
11.6.1 Ambient conditions for intended use
Regarding electromagnetic compatibility, the VISULAS green is
intended for use in the professional medical work environment. The
VISULAS green is neither intended to be used in private healthcare,
e.g. in private, nursing and retirement homes, nor in special
environments such as military facilities, heavy industry, medical
facilities with high-current devices or radiology facilities such as
MRTs.
11.6.2 Restriction on clinical functions
The following characteristics were verified during application of
electromagnetic disturbances:
• No undesired laser shot and no parameter change in "Treat"
step (READY mode)
• No power deviation of more than 20 % without warning
message and no power deviation of more than 50 % without
error message in active shooting mode
Restrictions of clinical functions caused by electromagnetic distur-
bances are very rare. Possible side effects or complications that may
occur when above mentioned clinical functions fail are listed in
sections 2.2.4 [

10] and 2.2.5 [
}
11]. Electromagnetic disturbances
have no influence on other clinical functions.
