HDR(High Dynamic Range)-Imaging
High dynamic range (HDR) creates an image with a
depth of 32-bit therefore covering a far broader
dynamic range than conventional images (8 to 16
bit). HDR-imaging is available in the
Show all
mode.
HDR creates the typical HDR effect of boosting
weak structures without saturating bright areas in
the image thereby enabling an optimal
representation of the morphology of weak and
bright objects within the same image.
Please see the description of the processing tool
HDR-Imaging
(section
) for details on the properties and
processing options of HDR files.
The HDR function is located under the field
Averaging
in the
Show all
mode of the
Acquisition Mode
tool (Fig. 130).
HDR
is
activated through ticking the
HDR
checkbox.
HDR is exclusively available to LSM imaging and is
not selectable when using other modes of image
recording (e.g. WF, SIM and Laser WF imaging on
ELYRA systems).
Two methods are available (Fig. 131):
−
Sampling
(HDR)
−
Illumination
(ROI HDR)
The HDR method used for image capture is also shown in the information of the recorded images.
The Sampling method is a means to improve the image display as it equalizes the differences between
the very high and the very low intensities in the image. However, it is not suitable for quantitative analysis
as the grey level steps become non-linear.
