6 Care and Maintenance
To ensure the best possible performance of the Microscope System, maintenance must be per-
formed on a regular basis. To maintain operational safety and reliability of the Microscope Sys-
tem, we recommend entering into a
ZEISS Protect service agreement
. Please keep the service
logs for your Microscope System.

6.1 Safety During Cleaning and Maintenance
Only conduct preventive measures described in the Instruction Manual. All pursuing tasks of main-
tenance, service and cleaning not described here must only be performed by an authorized ZEISS
service representative. Any unauthorized intervention in the Microscope System or any use outside
the scope of the intended use can lead to injuries and property damage, and voids all rights to
warranty claims. Only original spare parts from ZEISS may be used.
6.2 Maintenance Schedule
To maintain best possible performance of the Microscope System, it is essential to perform pre-
ventive maintenance on a regular basis. The recommended intervals depend on the total uptime
of the Microscope System.

24 hours, 7 days a week: semiannually
§
8 hours, 5 days a week: annually

6.3 Maintenance Work
Only conduct maintenance work described in this document. All pursuing tasks of maintenance,
service and repair not described here must only be performed by an authorized ZEISS service rep-
resentative.
6.3.1 Change of Consumables and Chemicals
The change of consumables and chemicals has to be performed by a ZEISS service representative
at mandatory intervals.
Preventive maintenance shall be carried out once a year. Shorter maintenance cycles are advised
in the following cases:

Significantly increased work load (e.g. imaging facilities, multiple shift use, etc.)
§
Prolonged operation under adverse conditions (e.g. dust, heat, vibration, etc.)
§
Increased wear and tear which is application/ sample-related (e.g. contamination, heavy sam-
ples, etc.)
