Insert the USB mass storage device.
Repeat the command “
cat /proc/partitions
”
Verify that the partitions present on the USB device are present in the list.
If the partition(s) on the USB media are formatted OK, then Linux should automatically mount the
volume and make it available for use. Usually Linux will mount storage devices at /media/sda1.
Enter the command “
ls –l /media/sda1
” and check to see if the files present in the USB device
are listed.
If not, the most probable cause is that the USB device is not formatted correctly. Re-format the USB
device and repeat the procedure.
Unmount the device by entering the command “
umount /media/sda1
” and remove power.

SATA interface
Remove the DC power plug from the DC power jack of the Z3-DM8168-APP-41.
Remove any USB devices from the USB jack.
Connect a SATA cable between the SATA jack of the DM8168-APP-41 board and the SATA disk drive.
Connect and turn on power to the SATA disk drive.
Follow the procedure specified by section 4.2 above to turn on the system and obtain a shell prompt.
Issue a command “
cat /proc/partitions
”.
Verify that the partitions present on the SATA device are present in the list.

Ethernet interface
This test verifies that the Ethernet interface is functional by testing whether the Z3-DM1868-APP-41 can see
the network interface of the PC.
Connect the Ethernet patch cable from the RJ-45 jack of the Z3-DM8168-APP-41 to the Windows PC.
Follow the procedure specified by section 4.2 above to turn on the system and obtain a shell prompt.
Verify that the link LED on the Ethernet jack is lit, indicating that a link is established.
