3.4 Turning the Power Switch On and Off
Before Turning On the Power, Check That:
• The instrument is installed properly (see section 3.2, “Installation”).
• The power cord is connected properly (see section 3.3, “Connecting the Power
Supply”).
Location of the Power Switch and On/Off Operation
The power switch is located in the lower left of the front panel. The power switch is a
push button. Press the button once to turn the instrument on, and press it again to turn
the instrument off.

Operations Performed When the Power Is Turned On
When the power switch is turned on, the GS200 logo appears on the screen, and a self-
test starts automatically. If the test completes successfully, the GS200 is configured
according to the setup file selected in section 9.3, “Selecting the Settings Applied at
Power-On.” Check that the GS200 has started normally before you use it.
Note
• Wait at least 5 seconds after you turn the GS200 off before you turn it back on.
When the Power-on Operation Does Not Finish Normally
Turn off the power switch, and check the following items.
• The power cord is securely connected.
• The voltage supplied from the power outlet is correct (see section 3.3).
• You can initialize the settings of the GS210 (see section 9.1).
If, after checking these items, the GS200 still fails to start when you turn the power switch
on, it may be malfunctioning. Contact your nearest YOKOGAWA dealer for repairs.
To Generate Accurate Output and Make Accurate Measurements
With the GS200 installed in a location that complies with the guidelines given in section 3.2,
allow the instrument to warm up for at least 60 minutes after the power switch is turned
on.
Turn the output off during warm-up. After the warm-up time elapses, turn the output on.
Operations Performed When the Power Is Turned Off
The setup data and measured results immediately before the power switch is turned off
are not retained. The same is true when the power cord is disconnected from the outlet.
We recommend that you save important setup data to the SETUP folder on the non-
volatile disk (GS200ROM). See sections 2.8, “USB Storage Feature” and 9.2.
Note
• If you turn the power off while output is on, the GS200 may produce a momentary beeping
sound, but this sound does not indicate an error.
