I/O Gateway Mode Details
In I/O Gateway Mode, you can connect only Simple I/O and Intelligent I/O. You can connect up
to eight stations of slave devices in this mode.
There are two operating modes within the I/O Gateway Mode: Stack Mode and Pack Mode.
The mode is set in the GW3100 parameters.
6.2.1
Stack Mode
M-II commands and responses for the I/O stations are stacked on the M-III commands and
responses without modification and sent between the host controller and the GW3100.
The host controller stores the M-II command in the M-III command and the GW3100 separates
the device commands for the M-II slave stations and sends them to the stations. The GW3100
takes the response data from the M-II slave stations, stores it in the M-III response, and sends
it to the host controller.
You must use Stack Mode to access I/O Module parameters and otherwise change M-II com-
mands during operation.
The flow of the command and response data in Stack Mode is illustrated in the following fig-
ures.
