Storing Spare Parts
Observe the following precautions to maintain the life and reliability of Power Cells, boards, cooling fans, or other spare
parts when stored:
• Do not unpack the product.
• If the product has been unpacked, enclose the board in a conductive, sealed bag.
• Protect the product not to be directly loaded during storage.
n
Storage Location
Store products held in reserve in a location, such as a warehouse, office, or similar location, with an ambient temperature
of -5
°
C to +40
°
C, a relative humidity no greater than 85%, and without condensation or freezing. For storage over short
periods (approximately one month), for example during transportation, a temperature range of -20 to +60
°
C is
permissible.
Avoid storing the products in the areas with the following characteristics:
• Exposure to direct sunlight.
• Subject to shock and vibration during transportation.
• Dust and oil mist, such as a cement factory or spinning mill.
• Corrosive gas, such as a chemical factory, refinery, or sewage plant.
• A risk of salt damage, such as a location near the sea, or in salt damaged areas.
n
Preventing Power Cell Deterioration
Apply voltage to a reserve Power Cell smoothing capacitor every six months to avoid deterioration.
Use a customer-supplied variable power supply and step-up transformer to apply voltage. Increase the voltage gradually
over two to three minutes and continue to apply the voltage for at least one hour with no load.
AC Variable Power Supply (Single-phase/Three-phase) on page 209
When Using a DC Variable Power Supply on
for details.
After installing a spare Power Cell into the drive panel and using it for the first time, leave the main circuit power supply
on continuously for 20 minutes after voltage was first applied to the Power Cell to stabilize the Power Cell capacitors.
Note: 1.
Use a variable power supply with a step-up transformer.
2.
A variable power supply and step-up transformer is to be provided by the customer.
