8. Install the sponge material onto
the frame, place the air filter ele-
ment in the original position on the
guide, and then tighten the wing
nut.
9. Insert the air filter element into the
air filter case.
NOTICE:
Make
sure that the air filter element is
properly seate
d in the air filter
case. The en g ine shoul d never
b e operate d without the air filter
element installe d , otherwise the
piston(s) an d /or cylin d er(s) may
b ecome excessively worn.

10. Install the air filter case cover by
installing the band.
11. Install the panel.
Checkin g an d cleanin g the air filter
case check hoses
1. Check the air filter case check
hoses for accumulation of dust or
water.
2. If dirt or water is visible, remove
the hoses, clean them, and then
install them.

Cleanin g the spark arrester
The spark arrester should be cleaned
at the intervals specified in the periodic
maintenance and lubrication chart.

Always let the exhaust system
cool prior to touchin
g exhaust
components.

Do not start the en g ine when
cleanin g the exhaust system.
TIP
Make sure to select a well-ventilated
area free of combustible materials to
clean the spark arrester.
1. Remove the spark arrester cap by
removing the bolts, and then pull
the spark arrester out of the muf-
fler.
